Yeah, yeah, yeah, that's all well and good, but what I want to know is what it means to me. Why don't they say, "Hey Chevron found some more oil. That means we may be paying as low as $1.50 in the future." Or something similar. Even a simple, "Gas prices expected to go down a shitload."

My friend tell me that the gas stations in our town are paying about $2.50 a gallon for their gas now. We typically pay .04? to .05? above that. With the latest news coming out talking of a gain is reserves, and dropping gas prices, it looks like we are going to get back to normal....$2.50 a gallon normal that is.

yeah, no shit.

although, it's "down" to $2.69-ish around here now. i thought it was odd that when katrina hit, it went up to like $4 in some parts around here. then, after the 3-day weekend, it went down like a buck fifty. stoic

I was thinking about that this morning while I was sitting on the pot. I wouldn't mind a minor deduction of my paycheck to pay for my work to come pick me up everyday.

So the Wal-Mart with the cheap gas ($2.88) ran out of gas yesterday. I saw this article today. I wonder where he was at the beginning of the year. Or maybe before the Iraq war started. Does anyone have the same feeling I do when he says this? It's like a parent telling you, "No parties while we are on vacation." "Ok. Mom and dad. We won't" Door closes....PARTY TIME!!!!

Ok. So as I said earlier, the station by my work was $2.53 in the morning. That afternoon it went up to $2.77. So today it's $2.77, but all others are averaging $2.99.

Yeah, back when Clinton was in office, he wanted to use the Alaskan oil reserves when it got so high (high being $1.75...), but got shot down by Congress. But it sounded like a good idea to me.

Doubly a good idea to me, now.

No, we haven't seen too much bad weather. We had some pretty bad tornadoes West of here, but we're on the far Eastern border of Georgia, so we're only getting some rain storms.

[quote]Posted: Tuesday, August 30, 2005 at 3:48 pm EDT
Quade don't give 'em any ideas!!

I paid 2.60 and Pooh paid 2.5-something at the Wal Mart gas station with the gift card, you know, how that saves like three cents or something.
Now the news is saying (not to get politics riled up in this or anything) that the govt is going to release our emergency oil reserves to try and get the prices down.

On a side note, Quade did you and Angel get any bad weather from the hurricane? I wasn't sure if you guys were close to it's path or not, I am not good with meteorology or geography but I knew the weather guys were saying that states around the affected areas, like Arkansas (Raspberry ) were going to get some severe weather as a result, just wondering.

[quote]Posted: Tuesday, August 30, 2005 at 10:18 am EDT
i paid 2.45 this morning, then saw it for 2.37 (fuck!)

and on a side note, i call bullshit on gas price increases...
you notice that back in the day, unleaded would be 1.25, unleaded plus was 1.25+.10, and premium was 1.25+20...
it's STILL that way... +.10 and +.20. You'd think that if oil prices doubled since last year, causing gas prices to double, that the new markup would have to be 2.50, 2.50+.20, and 2.50+.40...

but it's not. makes you wonder if they're really doing math to figure out the new markup on gas, or if they just say "meh. this week, it's going up another 3 cents"...
Dr. Pooh
[quote]Posted: Tuesday, August 30, 2005 at 9:58 am EDT
$2.75, although there is one little gas station here by my work thats still $2.53.

ok now that the hurricane went thru....im curious as to what your gas prices are today?

here in Sherwood they just went from 2.44 to 2.68 this morning.

let me know

[quote]Posted: Sunday, August 21, 2005 at 9:08 pm EDT
I agree.
Anyone else notice that the gas companies are making record profits, even though crude oil prices keep going up? You would think that if they are increasing the price of gas to offset the resource cost, that their profits would be flat...

toyota frowned on it im sure cause some guy spent $3000 more on adding some more batteries and now the car is almost 700 times more efficient than what they made knowing they could have done the same thing. I personaly think the oil companys are paying them big bucks to stall what technology they already have so they have to make consumers still buy the gas. dolla dolla bill yall!

wow, that's pretty sweet. Not trying to change the subject, but isn't it odd how they said Toyota "frowned" on these mods? What the hell do they care? That made me think of the xbox that many people modify as well. And if I'm not mistaken, the corporation can sue you for tinkering with it. Are there other products like that? Besides gaming systems that is. Products that can be modded but only illegally.

no shit dude. it's $2.09 here. and the biggest gripes the gas companies have is that they're having to buy all the new "2"s for their damn billboard marquees.

my next car will be a hybrid (it'll be another 2-3 years i'm sure, so they'll be really good by then, i hope). unless they start making hydrogen powered cars, which will be unlikely so long as the american oil/gas companies keep their lobbyists in play.

Ok. I know we had one of these threads, but I just can't find it. So here's another.

I just paid $2.19 a gallon for the cheap stuff. All I had on me was $10, and it got me up to 6 lines. Right between 1/2 and a 1/4. Looks like I'll be filling up again Wednesday.
