I have the SBC package with the 1.5mbs service. My bill is about $60/month after all the bullshit charges associated with the most basic on phone services. No caller id/ call waiting...nothing.

My satellite is the basic package and I added $5 to get the DVR service. Costs about $39 after taxes...this includes a dual receiver.
$39+$60 = $99...I'm not sure what the mandatory package is about

I'd probably go with the cable if I had it to do over again. No commitment to and damn land line for 1, and for 2, it doesn't quick working when your watching during a thunderstorm...oh and for 3, your weather channel has your local weather.

You wouldn't think so...
but I'm sure that they had some meeting with the best lawyers SBC can get, and were like..

hummmm how can we better fuck our employees..
Needless to say after 4 years, I am now the proud owner of a bell shaped ass hole.

Not only that, but so many people in my department bailed; those of us left have about triple the work load. Meanwhile my Boss who is completely sol ( he was retirement age and is being forced into retirement with a loss of bennies) is coming up with "better" ways of doing things and making us work all that much harder. For instance last week I Had to build a DB application that makes seeing who's off work and what tickets go to whom easier. I was like why the hell would you care, in 2 months your going to be sitting on the street.. (not literally). But thats all part of us turning to show our better hand and "go with the flow" as I'm constantly being told to do.

Sooooo I'm job hunting pretty hard, although I did get picked up by IBM just don't want to work at SBC anymore).

Bustin' ass to get one of my companies to where I can just report to myself and the federal government (cause those two will never fuck you Smile ).

Holy Crap. Is all that legal?

pretty much everything...

heres the story....
SBC has decided to outsource everything that has to do with IT (not the clown).
and heres the cool deal they offered us...
if there is a job, any job, in SBC (whether you are eligible or not) you get no severance.
if IBM (the company were out sourcing to) offers you a job, regardless of if you take it, you get no severance.
If you leave the company, at the time of out sourcing; before they can fire you, you get no severance.

If you take a job with IBM they will guarantee your pay for one year, after which it WILL be lowered.
You will loose all stock options.
You loose your bonus.
you loose you concessions.
you loose insurance.

if you are offered a job by IBM and decline that job you will be escorted out that day.
You are ineligible for rehire.

On top of all that going on; SBC, pretty much, accuses me of stealing $12,000 worth of laptops, and I have been dealing with the cops on pretty much a bi-weekly basis.

soooooo fuck SBC (including all their employees after dec 1), they can eat the corn outta any/everybody shit (to steal a line from knock).

Sounds like something that you will have to tell us all about sometime. Does this have anything to do with the Fuck You music you requested earlier?

lol.. well presently thats who I work for, so thoes are the costs with everything built in.. Right now I get everything but my tv for free from SBC being that I'm management... but that all changes and I would like to do away with anything they sell as I will be sugesting to anyone I know... as of dec 1st I offically hate that company, till then its unofficalSmile

Call SBC back and make sure there are no hidden costs, or things not calculated into the price they gave you. $105 a month might turn out to be $175 a month once they add all the bogus taxes, and the 911 fee, or whatever else BS they add on to it.

depends on how much you watch cable. I (unfortunatly) have a high def TV and have to get digital cable to actually do any good....plus cable internet.

that comes to about $150.00 a month not including ANY premium channels

and comcast didnt even give me a reach aroundFrown

Mediacom

11.19 – basic channels

45.00 – 5.0Mbs internet

So TV and internet for 65.19 a month….

SBC

15.00 – basic phone they force you to have for internet

35.00 – 1.5Mbs internet

55.00 – basic channels plus a mandatory package

105.00 for TV and internet a month….

I asked Mediacom if that rate was going to change and she said for the internet it is 29.95 for the first year, then it goes up to 45.00 (which is what I calculated it at).

So who to you is the lesser of the 2 evils?
